Missing mbr helper windows vista

I used grubinst. I copied grldr from grub4dos I have also created my menu. That is not the issue. Please throw some knowledge this way. Thanks, Tyler.

Posted 14 April - AM Missing MBR-helper You might have corrupted some sectors of the multi-sector boot record in the beginning track after you had successfully installed it. In this case you will also lose the MBR-helper built with the current grubinst.

To solve this problem, you should install the boot sectors using the latest build of bootlace. Posted 14 April - AM No offence whatsoever intended , but I find curious how a lot of people tries to follow a tutorial on some other site and when it doesn't work comes here for help on it. I would try again from scratch. Back to Grub4dos. Next, I formatted the flash again and tried to write back the older exact same version that has always worked. Again, same missing mbr-helper flag. Frustrated I grabbed Easy2boot and install it directly on my system disk.

Fire it up and to my surprise it doesn't even see any USB at all. It doesn't see any of my flash OR usb external drives at all. Darn it! I fire it up and same thing.

No flash is seen at all. You guys think this machine has something going on? I can't get to another machine until tomorrow.

Would this machine being 64 bit have anything to do with this process. It may be that the flash was created on a 32 bit machine some time ago.

Answers or ideas appreciated. Palancar , Jul 9, Palancar, I'd use diskpart to "clean" the first MB of the flash drive and then use grubinst-gui. Brian K , Jul 9, I gather diskpart "clean" is the key as it wipes the MBR. Very good chance the drive is failing so see the next message. If the issue happens again try the below methods as needed. This is serious error and "may" not be repairable without professional tech support from a real computer shop not leeks and peeks at a BestBuy or other BigBox Stores or your System maker's Support.

How to use the Bootrec. PLease any help to figure out this problem would be great Oh btw my os is windows 7 techsup2. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question 5. Report abuse.
