North Dakota State University has four- and five-year degrees in architecture and landscape architecture. Architecture students earn a pre-professional Bachelor of Architecture in four years or a Master of Architecture in five years. For landscape architects, the program is a four-year Bachelor of Environmental Design, with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in five.

The department is housed in repurposed buildings in downtown Fargo with studios, computer labs, laser-cutting facilities, and a specialized library.

Student clubs include chapters of professional organizations and the Tau Sigma Delta honor society. With Michigan State's Campus as Arboretum program, landscape architecture students are surrounded by a living learning laboratory. The bachelor program takes four and a half years and the master's program takes five.
